Spiritual Fruit: Peace | Thursday | April 11

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. –John 14:27 NLT

There is not one person who does not face fear from time to time. When something inside you is screaming, “Things are not going to get better,” it is hard not to be afraid of your circumstances. How can there be any peace when you are feeling oppressive thoughts or emotions and are totally overwhelmed? In the natural world, peace seems impossible to find at times, and it’s easy to struggle to believe God’s Word.

Take courage, and trust God. He hasn’t lost control. He hasn’t forgotten you. He never will. He goes before you and cares about you. Don’t be afraid of the storms. There will be trials in life, but His peace can calm a troubled heart. His peace surpasses all understanding. It is different from the peace the world offers. We must remember that God’s steadfast love never ceases. Hold on to God’s promises—keep repeating them to yourself. If Jesus promises you something, He will do it.

When you place your confidence in your loving God, you will possess a supernatural peace. The peace He gives will calm your spirit and settle in your heart. Wait hopefully for God to come through. He will!

Prayer Focus

  • Don’t doubt or fear—God is with you always.
  • Ask God to grant you His peace to guard your heart and mind as you live in Christ Jesus.
