Iron Sharpening Iron | Thursday | April 4

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. –Proverbs 27:17 NIV

Everyone has a testimony. Those difficult experiences that are now in the past. The ones that while you were in the middle of the storm you couldn’t imagine finding your way to the other side. Those experiences that are now a memory but from which you carry the scars of wisdom where God refined you in the fire.

It’s amazing how God uses those testimonies as life-saving devices to save friends drowning in their own storm. He places people in our lives to show us that there is victory at the end of a long struggle. He places people in our lives who speak the Holy Spirit’s truth into us. Iron sharpening iron!

You don’t have to be a preacher to speak life-changing truth to someone. Also, just because you are a leader today, doesn’t mean you won’t at other times be led by others and receive their words of wisdom for your own life.

God’s Word says that He will always give us an out when tempted by sin so that we can endure (1 Corinthians 10:13). That way out of sin could be the voice of another believer offering a helping hand or wise warning at just the right time. This idea of accountability and wise counsel was a gift God gave us so that we can keep walking in His freedom.

Prayer Focus

  • God, please place people in my life who will speak Your truth to me when I need to hear it.
  • God, help me to be sensitive to the needs of others and how I can support the friends You have placed in my life.
