What’s Broken Inside Your Heart?

…If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me. If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman. You must influence them; do not let them influence you!

–Jeremiah 15:19 NLT

When life gets shaky, there are many promises to stand upon. The Lord says, “If you return to me….” The word for “return” means to repent, turn back, restore, refresh or repair. For God to restore and repair what’s broken inside your heart, all He asks is that you turn toward Him.

Most people want to respond quickly to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. When you don’t respond to His promptings, you miss all that He’s trying to do in and through you. However, when your heart and attitude are humble toward God, He is quick to renew your spirit, refresh your heart, and put His Words in your mouth.

Once you have submitted yourself to God, you become as Isaiah 58:11-12 (NIV) describes, “… like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail…you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”

From what is the Holy Spirit urging you to turn? Humble yourself before the Lord today in order for Him to repair and restore you, and you will be His spokesman to His people and lift them up to Him.
