Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. –Hebrews 11:1 ESV
God’s Word promises His followers restoration, wholeness, and transformation to all. However, when we hear testimonies of lives that are dramatically changed, it’s easy to look at our own lives with frustration. Maybe there seems to be more setbacks and exasperation than victories.
However, especially in those times when there doesn’t appear to be much happening, that’s when we have to trust what God says, rather than what we can see with our eyes (2 Corinthians 5:7). During those seasons of change, growth can feel… well… unremarkable. Be encouraged and keep going.
Remember Philippians 1:6 and be assured that “He (Jesus) who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” In the meantime, continue to pursue God, walk in faithfulness, and with thanksgiving, allow the Lord Himself to sustain your mind, body, and spirit so that you can continue to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”(2 Peter 3:18).
1) God, help me be confident that You are at work even when I can’t see anything happening in my life.
2) Jesus, open my eyes to Your promises of restoration and help me know that those promises are true no matter what happens around me.
